Caxixi (pron. Cah-shee-shee) is a percussion instrument (shaken idiophone). It consists of a small wicker-type basket with a flat-bottom, partly filled with seeds or small stones. In Capoeira music, the caxixi is played along with the berimbau, shaken by the hand that holds a thin stick, too. Is an instrument of African origin, caxixi is one of the remnants of the Bantu culture and arrived in Brazil with slaves from the Congo and Angola regions.
Our models are 100% synthetic fiber, improving durability and strenght without loosing the traditional sound of the instrument.
